“It’ll be a shame if history allows one horrific event on this president’s watch to overshadow all the other horrific events on this president’s watch” Stephen Colbert (@StephenAtHome)
The nation is in shock.
History will analyze, deconstruct and contextualize Trump’s horribles. His riot event will be subsumed by political science, psychology and legal scholars. It challenges the principles of law, probity and authority upon which this nation was founded. The day after looks like the embarrassment that it is. The World is watching.
President Trump pardons himself, family and operatives, it will go down in history as the seminal achievement marking the end of the two party system in the U.S.A. It is apparent that a lesser outcome does not rise to meet the challenge. U.S. citizens would understand how the rest of Americans in Central, South America and socialist governments view democracy practiced in the U.S.A. Not even impeachment touches the president on the way out of office.
President Trump has at his disposal Executive pardons. He pardons himself, Guinness will award Donald its world record of hutzpah. Essentially a world laugh. Democracy doesn’t stand. The U.S.A. is at that moment.
