Elon’s genius in Tesla Cybertruck, like Jeep before it, is that it is limited only by the use to which it can be used. Cybertruck will be iterative, experimental and as a technology change over time its iteration number. Only money separates a Cybertruck ver1.0 and ver12.0 unlike iPhone which is a throwaway technology platform.
SpaceX could Starlink its EV cars and Cybertruck with untold possibilities in GEO, tracking, mapping, emergency and fleet specific interfaces. Tesla could launch a Pay to play for Cybertruck owners managing V2G metrics, load balancing, charging and power backup for city states and whole countries. Tesla might twin its entire EV fleet into V2G and a V2H to develop its next industry - TeslaGrid - distributed power.
I underestimated the potentials that Cyber contributed to Cybertruck. I expected Hydrogen to steal its future out from under battery. But cyber is ingeniously battery’s “Kryptonite”. Cyber software future-proofs battery technology. Cybertruck’s mobility is insuring its utility and as a platform Cybertruck is a brand of portmanteau that could turn into a verb for affordable sustainability.
Elon’s mission to get Earth off its dependence on petroleum seemed beyond audacious. Entrenched industry interests, political influence and national reliance on petroleum based transportation in a global economy seemed as immutable facts as they are immovable obstacles. In a few short years, Elon tackled the mission head-on. Tesla first took on auto industry naysayers producing a battery roadster that was quicker and faster than conventional petroleum fueled ICE powered sports cars. Next transferring battery technology into semi-truck Elon took-on the shipping industry’s diesel fuel addiction. Next bundling batteries into containers Tesla eliminated an entire country’s dependency on peeker plants. Then…
Between raising Tesla and SolarCity from startup stage to full production enterprises Elon had the temerity to start a rocket company to go to Mars. While SpaceX found its niche landing rockets for reuse, subsequent re-launch of those same rockets placed Elon’s Starlink satellites around the planet to instantly create a global network. The U.S. just awarded $886M to Starlink to accomplish in months what industry could never. Is Elon going to Mars?
I underestimated Elon and battery, overestimated hydrogen. Now I caution anyone who thinks Starlink is an internet service to notice its namesake portmanteau. Elon has greater, larger vision. Elon is not complacent to build rooftops anymore than cars or trucks. The world is witness to the single most grand accomplishment beyond which one human is capable. His first principles, dream big is not just big picture thinking but a simplest solution executed at scale.
Grok Elon’s vision on Space, Mars, Sun and the stars beyond. Elon imagines beyond human scale. Take tiny batteries use them to power cars, solar panels as home shingles, one big battery to distribute electricity, write software that salvages rockets, reuse rockets to launch a global network – all sustainable.
Elon’s steampunk software approach is eating the world’s lunch. Simplifying worldly problems into abstract layers Elon applies first principles to engineer, design and produce solutions at scale. More than solutions that work his signature style is sustainable.
Who would tunnel under ground to route commuter traffic, attack disease with brain implants or move people in vacuum tubes? The first seems as implausible as the last.
You can’t make this stuff up. What sounds like science fiction is the world’s answer tomorrow. His fingerprint on every single solution remains “implausible”. Grok Elon!
