Thanks to digital advances in solar, battery and backup power, owning an SUV now, more than ever, provides escape outback into the backcountry for a weekend or off-grid for days. Locked down during Covid, stuck indoors in WFH or in the 24/7 political climate, U.S. citizens seek outlet if not outright escape. Authentic SUV brands not only promise freedom some fought for it like Jeep. Models with proven legendary credibility, once thought lost to history, have made a comeback. Retro designs, new and improved, are back better than ever before.
New concepts are emerging as future-proof designs on living. One design is promising to do one better - deliver the future now. SpaceX Starlink satellites mean digital nomads no longer are tied to an internet connection in cities. No other vehicle can roam the world like an SUV. SO the possibilities are emerging that you can be off-grid even and your WFH hell could be a wild backcountry camp as easily as a coastal beachfront or anyplace with a clear sky overhead.
Paradigm shift happened. Venture capitalists co-opted the idea and re-worded it “disruption”. The future has arrived. There are many who can afford to step into it. Others left behind in the internet revolution will be able to skip right into this new paradigm. Its exciting. It’s now possible when other dreams like tiny homes, careers and intact families went the way of flying cars.
Irony is the mark of this paradigm shift to Space. It enables a future that those tiny home, career migrants and scattered families will recognize first. And foremost SUV’s might be the most easily accessible and approachable step into it.
